Dari Hagar ke Lorong-Lorong Kota: Tubuh, Kekuasaan, dan Resistensi
Abstract
Abstract. This paper explores the relationship between body, power, and resistance through a critical reading of the story of Hagar in Genesis 16 and 21. Using the lens of Michel Foucault's theory of power, the author interprets Hagar's body as a site of social and spiritual control, as well as a space for the emergence of resistance. Hagar's story is read alongside the reality of the bodies of female sex workers who experience marginalization and systemic domination. The study shows that both Hagar and the sex workers display hidden forms of resistance that affirm their subjectivity and the meaningfulness of their lives. The body, which is often reduced to an object of power, actually becomes a place of revelation and subversive spirituality.
