Abstract

Abstract. This study examines the interpretation of Daniel 8:15-27 from a postcolonial perspective to uncover its critique of hegemonic power and imperial domination. Daniel 8 presents an apocalyptic vision of the rise and fall of empires, reflecting the oppression experienced by the Jewish community. Through a postcolonial approach, this text is analyzed as a form of resistance against dominant powers that continuously reappear throughout colonial history. The research employs contextual analysis of the historical background of Daniel 8, deconstruction of power narratives, and an examination of apocalyptic symbolism representing colonial domination. The findings indicate that this text not only predicts political transitions but also provides a critique of oppressive power structures. The verses in Daniel 8 suggest that colonial domination is temporary and will eventually collapse.
