Basis Filosofis dan Teologis Doa Harian Romo Paul Janssen bagi Pelayan Orang Miskin

Abstract

Abstract. This article aims to explore the intersection of theology, ethics, and pastoral care for the poor and disabled as revealed in the daily prayer that Father Paul Janssen bequeathed to ministers of the poor. The prayer is titled “The Prayer of a Minister of Love, Minister of the Poor.” A critical analysis of the daily prayer was conducted using the philosophical perspectives of Immanuel Kant and Emanuel Levinas. The concept of categorical imperative applies to service to the poor by establishing moral obligations as maxims that transcend situational considerations. Through the philosophical basis of Kant and Levinas, a critique of conditional forms of service is obtained. Kant and Levinas' philosophical perceptions also emphasize the importance of selfless love and compassion, as illustrated by the parable of the Good Samaritan.

Abstrak. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi persimpangan antara teologi, etika, dan pelayanan pastoral bagi orang miskin dan kaum disabilitas yang terungkap dalam doa harian yang diwariskan Romo Paul Janssen untuk para pelayan orang miskin. Doa itu diberi judul “Doa Seorang Pelayan Kasih, Pelayan Orang Miskin.” Analisis kritis terhadap doa harian itu dilakukan dengan memakai sudut pandang filsafat Immanuel Kant dan Emanuel Levinas. Konsep imperatif kategoris berlaku untuk pelayanan kepada orang miskin dengan menetapkan kewajiban moral sebagai maksim yang melampaui pertimbangan situasional. Melalui basis filosofis Kant dan Levinas diperoleh kritik terhadap bentuk-bentuk pelayanan bersyarat. Persepsi filsafat Kant dan Levinas juga memberi penekanan pada pentingnya kasih dan belas kasih tanpa pamrih, seperti yang diilustrasikan oleh perumpamaan tentang Orang Samaria yang Baik Hati.
