Pendidikan Teologi Multikultural: Belajar Dari Pendidikan Multikultural James A. Banks

Abstract


Abstract. The Evangelical Christian Church (GKI) in the Land of Papua is a multicultural church with 250 tribes in Papua and all ethnic groups inhabiting Papua Land. GKI in the Land of Papua is not only faced with a multicultural congregation, but also cultural changes that occur and affect the lives of the Papuan people. In such conditions, many problems arise, along with the emergence of primordialist thinking that leads to internal and external conflicts. Therefore, a multicultural theological education is needed that has an impact on harmony, where everyone can accept and appreciate the differences. In this article, I try to describe multicultural theological education using the concept of James A. Banks' multicultural education. Through dialogue between the concept of James A. Banks' multicultural education and GKI in the Land of Papua as a multicultural church, multicultural theological education is present for GKI in the Land of Papua, namely identity awareness, cultural communication, transformation, spirituality and values.

Abstrak. Gereja Kristen Injili (GKI) di Tanah Papua merupakan gereja multikultural dengan 250 suku di Papua dan semua suku bangsa yang mendiami Tanah Papua. GKI di Tanah Papua tidak hanya berhadapan dengan jemaat yang multikultural, tetapi juga perubahan budaya yang terjadi dan memengaruhi kehidupan masyarakat Papua. Dalam kondisi demikian, banyak masalah yang muncul, seiring dengan munculnya pemikiran primodialisme yang berujung pada konflik internal maupun eksternal. Karena itu dibutuhkan sebuah pendidikan teologi multikultural yang berdampak pada keharmonisan, di mana setiap orang bisa saling menerima dan menghargai perbedaan. Dalam tulisan ini, saya berupaya menguraikan pendidikan  teologi multikultural dengan menggunakan konsep pendidikan multikultural James A. Banks. Melalui dialog antara konsep pendidikan multikultural James A. Banks dan GKI di Tanah Papua sebagai gereja multikultural, maka hadir pendidikan teologi multikultural bagi GKI di Tanah Papua, yaitu kesadaran identitas, komunikasi budaya, transformasi, spiritualitas dan nilai.
